City of Majdanpek is located in eastern part of Serbia on the territory of Kučaj mountains, Homolja and Djerdap gorge. It is located 190 km from Belgrade, and 100 km from Pozarevac. Elevation of the city is 350 - 400 m, and is surrounded by oak, beech and maple woods and mountains. This district is characterized by undulating, hilly land and gentle rolling slopes.
National Park of Đerdap is the largest and most important national park in the country that is largely spread in the municipality of Majdanpek with mountain rivers, coast of river Danube, exceptional and rare flora, fauna, landscapes of exceptional value and rarity and attractive landscapes, represents the most significant tourist value of municipality of Majdanpek.
Rajko's cave is located about 2.5 km from the center, at the source of the gold-bearing river Pek. A multitude of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites at over 2300m length makes this cave one of the richest and most beautiful cave ornaments.
The crystal clear lake is on the way to the cave, with about 15000m2, and formed by Rajko and Pag river. It is suitable for water sports and fishing.
Valja Prerast is a natural stone bridge with a span of 150m and a height of 26m. It is under state protection, called the most beautiful natural gateway in Serbia and is located only 10 km from Majdanpek on the way to Donji Milanovac.
Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul is located in the city center. It was built by order of Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic and Serbian government in 1856. The famous court painter Uroš Knežević has drafted a plan for the church.
Majdanpecka domena is a legacy of Queen Mary University of Belgrade in 1903 with the source of the river that forms a cascading basins.
Rudna Glava (Ore head) - praurija early Neolithic mine (5000 years before Christ) and is the oldest example of copper processing technology. Rudna Glava is accepted as one of the thrust points of the European civilization and it is the cradle of European mining.
Thanks to our most famous archaeologist Professor Mr. Srejovic, 40 km from the town of Majdanpek humanity has great wealth, Lepenski vir with the ancient cultures of the world and one of the most important sites of Stone Age culture with the remains of religious architecture, old 9500 years before Christ from the Neolithic period. Lepenski Vir is the cradle of one of the oldest civilizations.
